About This Project

Construction of a residential aged care facility containing 104 beds. The main building entry will be toward the View Street frontage with a porte cochere over the driveway. From this point, a central corridor or 'internal street' will run westward, giving access to 3 low care wings to the north, 2 dementia wings in the north western corner of the building & 2 high care wings in the south western corner. A central hub of cooking, cleaning & administration areas services these residential wings. All suites allow direct access to outdoors. Low care wings will provide direct access to double height 'street' along east/west axis with numerous activities including but not limited to: indoor games, lounges, interactive cooking sessions, dining areas, cafeteria, library rooms, hairdresser, doctor room, physiotherapy. The dementia wings will provide areas for the residents to encourage different types of activities reflecting their capabilities such as interactive functions for sound, touch and scent gardens. There will be a large auditorium towards the centre of the facility to house functions of varying types including religious ceremonies, movies, exercise/physiotherapy classes, meetings. The facility will be managed from the front of the facility with management & meeting rooms located there. The back of house area adjacent to this will prepare meals & provide laundry facilities. Along with these functions will be a large staff room with outdoor area, maintenance office & store room, chemicals room, hot water & electrical switch rooms. The resident wings are all single storey & have a centrally located clear storey to allow natural light in to the sitting areas & corridors. Series of lawns & village green, stone, paved & timber pathways with 2 pedestrian connections to the rest of the retirement village to the north; landscaped seating areas; sensory gardens & landscape features; 1.8m high picket fence to part of the View St frontage & 2 metre high brick wall either side of the main entry; 1.8m high palisade fence to the northern & western sides adjoining the rest of the retirement village. Masonry walls, fibre cement, & weathertex cladding, steel colorbond roofing. Carparking for 55 vehicles. Total of 8,860sq m of hard and soft landscaping;
