About This Project

Construction of 50MW solar farm on 300 hectares of rehabilitation tailings storage area, recycling the infrastructure of the former Kidston gold mine which closed in 2001. Scope of work includes: establish a 50MWac tracking solar farm at the old Kidston Gold Mine in North Queensland. The Solar Farm is to connect into the Ergon Energy Network at the adjacent Ergon Energy Kidston Substation. The solar farm will be 50MW ac /63MW dc currently using First Solar Panels on a Nextracker tracking system. There will be 20 solar blocks that make up the farm each with a central inverter. Each Solar Block will be connected by 22kV Cables back to the solar substation, there will be 3 solar feeders in all. The solar substation will be a 132/22kV substation with a 50MVA step up transformer, connection to the Ergon substation via 1.5kM 132kV transmission line
