About This Project

The E2R Water Science Facility will serve as an outdoor laboratory for the Institute for Applied Ecology across its four major research areas of: genetics and genomics, eco-chemistry and toxicology, water science and conservation ecology. Teaching at the facility will encompass geomorphology, environmental flows, eco-toxicology, climate change, fish biology and freshwater biology. Researchers will assess responses of aquatic organisms to combined stressors from pollutants and climate, at levels including genes, the genome, individuals, populations and ecosystems. Showcasing the University's expertise in the environmental sciences, the E2R Water Science Facility will provide opportunity to undertake research at undergraduate, honours and post-graduate level, and will create opportunity for research collaborations, including with other domestic and international Universities. The Project also includes a Grassland Plot consisting of a parcel of land adjacent to the E2R Water Science Facility Plot which has been fenced and is being used to undertake research on native grasses
