A beautiful heritage building on one of Australia’s busiest malls has been placed on the market. Justin Bond and Blake Goddard of Knight Frank Brisbane are marketing 62 Queen Street in Brisbane on behalf of vendor, Conias Corporation Pty Ltd, a private company owned by Spero and Joan Conias of Ascot (Qld).
62 Queen Street is a three-storey retail and office building with basement and ground floor retail space, plus two levels of offices above. The building was built in 1883 for the Colonial Mutual Assurance Society in Gothic style; the architect was Richard Gailey. The building originally featured a tower, which was removed during the war years and never replaced. With a building area of 1,120 sqm its major tenants include Academy of Makeup, Australia The Gift - Australian Souvenirs, T-Shirts & Gifts and WWF Australia.
Properties along the Queen Street Mall are tightly held. The whole building last traded in 2001 at $2.3 million and a 50% interest in it traded at $2.6 million in 2006.
