What is Mastercard Retail Location Insights?

Mastercard Retail Location Insights (MRLI) draws on Mastercard transaction data to evaluate the sales-based performance of retail locations across Australia. Using an indexed scoring system, MRLI ranks each location against all other locations across a number of different merchant categories. MRLI scores are provided from the mesh block level, all the way up through the census hierarchy to the state level.

Five (5) individual scores and a composite (upfront) score are provided for each location:

  • Monthly sales (value)
  • Number of monthly transactions (volume)
  • Average ticket size
  • Sales growth year over year
  • Stability ranking of the merchant turnover versus a year ago
  • UpFront Score derived from the five component scores above to provide a single measure of performance for a given location.

With over 2.3 billion cards globally and over 160 million transactions per hour, MRLI is not a proxy for behaviour - it is actual spending behaviour.

MRLI will compliment CoreLogic’s existing commercial property product suite and offer a new level of insight for commercial retail property.
