A unique Melbourne property at 27 Windsor Place, Melbourne has been placed on the market through Nick Peden, Josh Rutman and MingXuan Li of JLL Melbourne. The vendor is the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust, a private trust established after the death of a Scottish-Australian woman, Helen Macpherson Smith in 1951. Following on instructions in her will that $275,000, most of her wealth, was to be used to establish a philanthropic trust, it was set up to benefit Victorian charities.
Previously advertised as ‘East End Royalty’ for its prized location, the property is a two and three-storey brick house, two storeys to the street, with fitted-out offices, a rooftop garden and one car space. It was built to two-storeys in 1895 and is one of the few surviving houses in the Melbourne central business district. The building has been extensively refurbished several times and has a building area of 287 sqm including the rooftop terrace of 62 sqm.
After having donated more than $130 million to various Victorian charities over the past 70 years the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust is looking to move to larger premises. The property last traded when the trust purchased it at $2.695 million in 2011.
