About This Project
The Torrens Rail Junction is where the interstate mainline freight crosses the Outer Harbor metropolitan passenger railway, located in the Park Lands opposite Renewal SAs Bowden Urban Village development. This project will grade separate rail corridors by lowering the Outer Harbor rail corridor below both the interstate rail corridor & the adjacent Inner Ring Route (Park Terrace). The lowered rail corridor will extend for a length of approximately 1.4 kilometres. The existing Bowden rail station will be relocated southeast of Gibson St to provide improved connectivity with the Bowden Urban Village, The Entertainment Centre, Adelaide Park Lands, local businesses & sporting clubs. A new shared path for pedestrians & cyclists will run adjacent & across the rail corridor, linking to the rail station, Bowden Urban Village & Adelaide Park Lands via a dedicated shared path under Park Tce). Proposed works to include : 1) New pedestrian bridges (four in total); 2) Reconstructed Park Terrace road bridge (overpass); 3) Reconstructed Gibson Street road bridge (overpass); 4) new Bowden Railway Station (including shelters); 5) Revetment / piled walls (within rail corridor); 6) New rail overpass over Outer Harbor Railway line; 7) Ancillary works (throw screens, fencing etc).
