About This Project

May include the construction of a 20 megawatt photovoltaic (PV) solar power generating facility within the Emu Downs property with an area of 41 hectares to be located in the north east corner of the lot. The main component will include the installation of solar panels to generate 20MW of power through the use of twin block solar panels. The solar panels will be arranged in rows of approx 600m in width & 550m in length. A single or dual access tracking type solar panel structure may be used, although fixed tilt type may still be used, with all cabling to be underground. Small enclosed collector stations providing housing inventers & switchgear to convert energy from DC to AC will be provided along with amenities building to contain the user interface for the Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, the digital monitoring & maintenance system for the facility. The existing Emu Downs Wind Farm amenities building will be used for ongoing operations & maintenance staff. A minimum of 3 metrological stations comprising of measurement instruments, data logging & communications equipment will be established within the PV array. Included also will be a tools/spare parts storage area, hazardous substances storage area, ablution facilities, access drives, car parking area, outdoor operation/maintenance facilities, access road & perimeter fence enclosing the whole facility. The new Solar Power facility will connect to the existing transmission connection substation infrastructure that is used to service the existing Wind Farm, a new 22kV underground cable will be constructed from the PV facility to the existing Wind farm substation with a minimal impact upon general farming operations & future access. During the construction period a temporary construction compound with office, messing, toilet & washing facilities will be constructed & removed upon completion.
