About This Project
Construction of the 270km Broken Hill pipeline. The pipeline will run adjacent to the Silver City Highway between Wentworth & Broken Hill, on the western side of the Darling River. The pipeline's proposed capacity when used in conjunction with the current Broken Hill water supply infrastructure shall be able to meet a peak daily demand of up to 37.4 ML/day. Scope of work includes: river intake consisting of a screened intake structure from the River Murray near Wentworth connected directly to a pump station to deliver raw water into the pipeline to Broken Hill. Low lift pump station and pipeline from the river intake to a water conditioning plant. A water conditioning plant, located at or near Wentworth, if required to meet the Contractor s design requirements from a whole of life perspective. Approximately 270 km of water transfer pipeline from the river intake facility to a bulk water reservoir near Broken Hill. Aeries of in-line transfer pump stations (size, number and location to be determined by the Contractor) along pipeline necessary to deliver raw water to Broken Hill including power supply. HV network mains power transmission lines to power the pump stations and any water conditioning plant. A bulk water storage reservoir to be located at or near Broken Hill. a transfer pump station and associated pipework from the bulk storage to a new terminal raw water storage tank at the existing Mica Street Water Treatment Plant in Broken Hill.
