About This Project


The purposes required by this Contract is the design & construction of the following a) City Tramline Extension; An extension of the Adelaide tram network along North Tce from King William St to adjacent the Old Royal Adelaide Hospital. b) Jetty Road Re-railing (if incorporated into this Contract); The replacement of the worn rails & supportive concrete in-road slab & the reconstruction of the Jetty Road tram stop 16, both up & down track in accordance with standards of construction specified by Australian light rail authorities.c) City South Re-railing (if incorporated into this Contract); The replacement of the worn rails & supportive concrete in-road slab in King William Rd from Victoria Square (previous tram extension) to South Tce (previous tram upgrade project track) in accordance with standards of construction specified by Australian light rail authorities.In conjunction with this project, the Adelaide City Council proposes to undertake Public Realm Improvements on North Tce & the Principal intends to upgrade existing track at Jetty Rd (Glenelg) & City South (Adelaide). These Public Realm Improvements & track upgrade works may be included as separable portions of the contract to extend the City Tramline along North Tce if this approach will deliver construction inefficiencies The City Tramline Extension project includes a contribution from the Adelaide City Council to enhance the North Terrace public realm, consistent with the Adelaide Design Manual in conjunction with the tramline extension. These works are provisional and subject to the Principals agreement with Adelaide City Council. The public realm works include: (a) Footpaths; (b) Landscaping; (c) Street lighting; (d) Street furniture & public art; & (e) Other item as determined by Adelaide City Council. EXCLUDED FROM SCOPEThe following elements are excluded from the Project scope:(a) purchase of new light rail rolling stock;(b) modifications to existing tram stops (excluding city south); (c) track inspectors; (d) test tram; & (e)substitute buses.In addition the following elements are excluded from the Project scope for Jetty Road, Glenelg: (a) Track Protection Officers; (b) Person Responsible for Electrical Safety (PRES); (c) New turnout, crossover & switch machine to be supplied by Principal, Contractor to arrange for the loading & transport of turnout, crossover, switch machine & prepared rail from Principal s off-site storage at its Dry Creek Depot; & (d) Switching resource for temporary isolation of overhead traction power at Brighton Road tram stop.
