The latest research from Sydney Units Cityscope shows that apartment sales in Sydney’s CBD have increased both in number and total sales value in the last quarter. The last three months to April 2020 recorded 132 sales for a total of $187.6 million, an increase from the 121 sales at a total value of $163.4 million recorded for the quarter to January 2020 but a decrease from the 577 sales at a total value of $747.5 million in the previous quarter. This was due to the off-the-plan sales of three buildings being included in the October 2019 update.

The 12 months leading up to April 2020 recorded 1,651 sales for a total of over $2.389 billion, significantly higher compared to the 712 sales for a total of close to $886 million for the same time period the year before.

Notable sales this quarter include: 

  • Lot 17, known as unit 23 on level 23 in The Georgia at 155 Kent Street, Sydney, a 238 sqm three bedroom unit including approximately 24 sqm balcony space and 28 sqm parking on level 4, which was bought for $6.5 million through Vanguarde Estate Agents;
  • Lot 148, known as unit 2801 in Arc by Crown Group at 161 Clarence Street, Sydney, a 178 sqm apartment with a terrace facing east on level 28 plus a 34 sqm car space on basement level 2, which was bought for $5.5 million through Ray White TRG and.
  • Unit 2203 in Observatory Tower at 168 Kent Street, Sydney, a 172 sqm two bedroom unit including balcony on level 22, which was bought for $4.95 million through Vanguarde Estate Agents.
